Dog-Friendly Beaches Near Bradenton: Day Trips from Holmes Beach
Nothing is worse than arriving at the coast with your dog and realizing you are not sure what is allowed where. On Anna Maria Island the answer is simple: the island’s three cities and Manatee County keep dogs off their beaches.
The shorelines that do welcome dogs are on the mainland side, a short drive from Holmes Beach.
How Sandbox Beach House solves it
Manatee County’s visitor bureau lists Palma Sola Causeway, on Manatee Avenue between the island and Bradenton, as dog-friendly, with beaches on both sides of the road. The National Park Service allows pets at De Soto National Memorial in Bradenton, where the beaches are popular with dog owners and pets must stay on a six-foot leash.
- One dog up to 35 lb welcome at the cottage, with approval
- Keep your dog leashed, pick up after it, and read the posted signs at each park
- For off-leash play, try the fenced Laurie Crawford Dog Park at G.T. Bray Park in Bradenton
Plan responsibly, then enjoy the island
Rules can change, so check the county or park page before you go and follow the posted signs. Back at the cottage, the fenced backyard is a calm place to rest after an outing.
