Is Anna Maria Island Dog Friendly? What Dogs Can Do, Town by Town
Yes, as long as you plan around the sand. Every beach on the island bars dogs, but leashed walks, a fenced city dog park, dog-friendly patios and a shoreline just off the island that allows dogs make it an easy week with a small dog. Here are the rules in each town, with the official source for each.
Quick rules to know
- Dogs are not allowed on the island's beaches: Holmes Beach, Anna Maria, Bradenton Beach and the Manatee County beaches all bar them.
- Keep your dog on a leash in public places; the Holmes Beach city dog park is fenced for off-leash play.
- Bring water, waste bags, and a towel for sandy paws.
- Go early or late for cooler sand and fewer crowds.

Holmes Beach
Animals are barred from all beaches in the city.

Domestic animals, dogs included, are not allowed on the city's coastal barrier sand.

Bradenton Beach
No dogs on the beach, groins or jetties.

No dogs, including the paths and parking areas next to the beaches.
